John Lee from Surrey, BC has been piping for most of his 18 years, having started at the age of 5. He was born into a family of pipers with his father and uncle being the founders and leaders of the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band.
John has won many piping prizes along the way. In 2006, he tied for the BC Piper’s Association Grand Aggregates for Grade 2 pipers. In 2008 he was runner-up for the Grade 1 Grand Aggregate. John has been a member of the Robert Malcolm Memorial juvenile pipe band for several years. He was a member of the band in 2005 when they won their 4th World Juvenile Championships. In 2010, John won the C level Aggregate at the Cowal Highland Games with 2 – firsts and a third. John is hoping to move up to the B level next year. In 2010, John completed his first season as a piper in the SFU Pipe Band and competed in both circles with the band at the World Championships.
